HONOLULU (December 3, 2021) – The Laylow, Autograph Collection is pleased to announce the appointment of Benjamin Buckley as assistant general manager.

Buckley previously served as the general manager of Hideout, the hotel’s signature restaurant that’s loved by locals and visitors alike. He brings 10 years of hospitality and restaurant management experience to his new role.

Under Buckley’s leadership, Hideout has won accolades such as “Best Place to Pau Hana” and a silver Hale ‘Aina award from Honolulu Magazine. Buckley is deeply rooted in the local food scene and advocates to incorporate locally-owned brands and fresh ingredients at Hideout.

“Working with Ben over the past five years has truly been a pleasure. I’ve seen his dedication to making Hideout an oasis for travelers and kamaʻaina to escape and created an atmosphere that quickly became one of Waikiki’s most desired establishments for outdoor dining and live entertainment. Due to the success that Ben generated at Hideout, his promotion was an easy decision,” said Robert Friedl, general manager of The Laylow. “We are excited to see him grow in his new role and extend his dynamic leadership skills throughout the hotel.”

In his new role, Buckley will focus on curating a vibe that’s exactly like nothing else, which includes supervising room operations to ensure a memorable guest experience, continuing to oversee food and beverage operations and maintaining The Laylow’s upscale ambience.

Buckley began his hospitality management career in Boston, Massachusetts at The Colonnade Hotel and eventually moved to restaurant management in 2012. He relocated to Honolulu in 2016 to begin his position as Hideout’s general manager.

Buckley holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
